This week, market conditions showed synchronized growth in lithium carbonate and cathode material prices, with cost pass-through driving a steady increase in new battery cell prices. Supply side, speculation suggests battery cell manufacturers prioritized stabilizing prices for A-grade batteries for well-known mobile phones, further reducing sales of second-life B-grade cells, directly tightening supply of popular second-life battery cells. Demand side, overall second-life battery market demand remained stable, with downstream purchasing enterprises maintaining steady procurement needs. Supply-demand dynamics slightly pushed up prices of popular second-life battery cells, while conventional second-life cell prices were less affected by these adjustments.

SMM September 18 News:

Second-Life Battery Market This Week:

This week, lithium carbonate and cathode material prices rose in tandem, driving stable growth in new battery cell prices due to cost pass-through. Supply side: Battery cell manufacturers are speculated to prioritize stabilizing prices for A-grade cells for well-known mobile phones, further reducing sales of B-grade second-life cells, tightening supply of popular second-life cells. Demand side: Overall demand in the second-life battery market remained stable, with downstream purchasing enterprises maintaining steady procurement. Supply-demand dynamics slightly pushed up prices of popular second-life cells, while conventional second-life cell prices were less affected.

Considering current market supply-demand transmission, popular second-life cell prices may see modest increases in the short term due to reduced supply, but with overall demand remaining relatively stable, the upside potential is limited without significant fluctuations. Conventional second-life cell models will continue to trade steadily.
